School General Rules

ENROLMENT IN SAINT PAUL'S SCHOOL IMPLIES, ON THE PART OF PUPILS' AND PARENTS' WILLINGNESS TO COMPLY WITH THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE SCHOOL.

  1. At the time of admission, the students being admitted will be tested for the standard to which he/she is seeking admission. Class Nursery will have spot admission for limited seats on payment of admission fees.
  2. The school encourages its pupils to use only English as mode of communication within the school premises.
  3. The decision of the School Authority in regard to school activities and promotion is FINAL.
  4. Promotion depends on the child's performance throughout the year; not merely on the marks scored in the Final Examination and class assessment / test can seriously affect the child's promotion.
  5. If a child is absent for an examination for any reason whatsoever, he / she will not be allowed to appear for it at a later date. His / Her general performance / class test in the subject will be taken into account.
  6. A Parent SHOULD record reason for their child's lack of punctuality or absence in the Regularity Record section of the School Almanac and attach the signature. The students who do not have explanatory record for their absence will be sent home without informing parents / guardians.
  7. Students failing to have 80% of attendance out of total school working days shall be asked to withdraw from school in the same year. Students who fail for two consecutive years cannot remain in school as well as those who fail in two consecutive classes.
  8. The Principal, in the interest of the school, may ask a parent or guardian to withdraw his child / ward due to child's misconduct, behaviour or influence which is detrimental to the common good of the school and its smooth running.
  9. Excuse for absence and late attendance should not be made by phone but in writing in the Almanac.
  10. Strict action will be taken against the students who remain absent on the first day of the school after holidays and vacations without prior notice to the school.
  11. The student will not be allowed to enter into the school after the morning assembly/prayer.
  12. After an illness, a pupil must produce a Doctor's certificate of medical leave and the certificate of fitness to join the school.
  13. The leave application must be brought for signature before assembly. Students who do not take signatures of authority timely will not be allowed to attend classes and he / she will be marked as absent and are liable to be sent home.
  14. Parents / Guardians must see that their ward studies regularly and does the work given from the school. Remarks send from the school in the remark column should be counter signed by Parents. School Almanac must be checked daily and signed by Parents/Guardians.
  15. All pupils are to come to school neatly dressed in their school uniform. Jewellery and fancy ornaments are not permitted. Pupils are themselves responsible for the safe custody of their books and other belongings. Each article should be marked with the pupil's name, class and section. All the stationery belongings must be kept tidy and covered by brown paper.
  16. Admittance into the school premises is at the sole discretion of the school authorities. The school authorities, therefore, reserve the right to refuse admission to anyone without assigning any reasons whatsoever.
  17. The school is not responsible for any day scholars' / pupil's safety before and after school hours.
  18. The school will encourage every student to take part in all co-curricular activities i.e. games, school sports, independence day celebration, concerts, debates etc.
  19. Parents are requested not to take their children out for long leave during the school working days.
  20. Pupils may not leave the school premises during the school hour WITHOUT A WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION from Principal / Vice-Principal.
  21. Students who come shabbily dressed or unkempt or with long hair are liable to be sent home.
  22. Parents & Students are answerable to the school authorities for their conduct in and outside the school. Hence misbehaviour in public places, irregular attendance, habitual idleness, continual failure to make satisfactory progress in studies, objectionable moral behaviour like stealing, fighting, disturbing classes, cheating in the Examination or test and above all disrespect and disobedience to Teachers and Staff are each a sufficient reason for dismissal with or without notice.
  23. Gifts or Presents to the members of the staff or other demonstration in their honour also require the Principal's sanction.
  24. Collections for any purpose whatsoever requires the sanction of the Principal and all account of the same should be handed over to the account office after the confirmation of the notice issued. No gathering, meeting, demonstration, party, picnic or tournament may be conducted without the prior permission of the Principal.
  25. All correspondence addressed to pupils studying in the school is subject to inspection.
  26. Parents should not discuss school matters with the teacher, enter class room or staff room during school hours. The Principal or Vice Principal will be available during the office hours or by appointment.
  27. Parents are expected to refrain from staying in the school premises for hours, initiating noisy gathering or engaging in negative criticism and gossips in and around the school premises.
  28. Parents or guardians having problem of any kind especially related to class room, class mates, teachers etc. must bring it to the notice of the Principal immediately. Parents or guardians should not create confusion & chaos in & around the school compound with such topics.
  29. Parents are expected to co-operate with the school authority & abide by the rules and regulations. Parent, being a part of an institution, are also expected to be humble, supportive and suggestive towards school authority, staff and students.
  30. Parents are requested to instruct their children to seek help from the school in case of difficulties with any teacher or fellow student.
  31. If a student leaves the school after half day for some genuine reason he / she is marked present for the other half.
  32. No retest is allowed of a child is absent. But if a student is representing the school at district, state or national level and is absent for any examination then he / she will be allowed to sit for the exam on his / her return.
  33. Any sort of photography in and around school compound is not allowed. Permission from authority must be taken before doing so.
  34. Photographs of school, classmates, students, teachers or any other, related to school's information is absolutely not allowed to circulate or publicise in any manner.
  35. It is mandatory for all students to come in school uniform & ID for all school events, activities, function, celebrations etc. unless particularly notified by school for change.
  36. Students reaching the school after first warning bell (before assembly), will not be allowed to attend regular class.
  37. Students are not allowed to bring any electronic gadgets (mobile phones, smartwatches, laptops, tablets, etc.) to school.
  38. Only students of Std VII and above are allowed to come to school by bicycle. Parents are requested not to send their children by bicycle if they do not belong to the aforementioned classes.
  39. Parents are strongly advised not to send their children to school by bike/scooter. It should be noted that the school does not permit students to come to school by bike/scooter/moped or any other motorcycle.

Rules for Parents / Guardians

  1. Parents retain their right and duties in the education of their children, even though they delegate them in part to the school. The support and collaboration of parents are in all cases considered indispensable for the success of education carried out by the school.
  2. Parents/Guardians are requested to co-operate with the school authorities:
    1. by urging their wards to be regular and punctual in attendance.
    2. by seeing that their wards are diligent at their home work and lessons.
    3. by insisting on neatness and cleanliness in regard to their text books, exercise books and personal grooming.
    4. by occasionally meeting the Principal/Vice-Principal to discuss the progress of their wards.
  3. Ordinarily communications with Parents/Guardians are made through the School Almanac The School Almanac should be checked by the Parents and signed regularly and the instructions given as and when required should be followed.
  4. Parents/Guardians are not allowed to see their wards or to meet the teachers during the class hours without the special permission from the Principal.
  5. Admittance into the school premises is at the sole discretion of the school authorities, who reserve the right to refuse admission to any one without assigning any reason whatsoever.
  6. In case a child falls sick or meets with an accident in the school premises he / she can be helped with immediate first aid only. The parents will be informed and are expected to come and attend immediately. It is important to give the correct phone numbers in the almanac and update whenever there is a change. Though the school takes care of your ward while in school, the school cannot be held responsible for any self-inflicted or accidental mishap / physical injury or otherwise, that may befall your ward.
  7. All communications to the school should be addressed to the Principal/Vice-Principal.
  8. Bringing any kind of electronic gadgets, mobile phones, camera, expensive watch, valuable ornaments in school is strictly prohibited. Applying mehandi, nail polish or dyeing ones hair is also not allowed.
  9. Parents also must teach their ward to take care of their belongings in school and communicate with teachers & authorities about the difficulties they may face in school.
  10. It is mandatory for all students to come in school uniform & ID for all school events, activities function, celebrations etc. unless particularly notified by school for change.

Payment Rules

  1. Tuition fee will be charged for the full academic session. No DEDUCTION SHALL BE MADE FOR HOLIDAYS AND VACATION.
  2. All payment to be paid in advance within 1st to 8th Bank Working days of every English Calendar Month. If holidays fall under the payments dates, advance payments should be made.
  3. A late fine of Rs. 50/- per month will be charged if the payment is not made within the 8th as mentioned above in rule '02'.
  4. Fee book should be produced in the school account section for verification whenever sought for.
  5. Report card will be withheld if fees are in arrears.
  6. Pupil's name will be removed from the school Register if fee for any two months is not paid.

TC/Withdrawal Rules

BEFORE THE PUPIL'S WITHDRAWAL FROM THE SCHOOL A HALF CALENDAR MONTH'S NOTICE MUST BE GIVEN OR 10 DAYS AHEAD OF FINAL EXAMINATION, AN APPLICATION SHOULD BE SUBMITTED TO PRINCIPAL.

  1. In case of transfer in the middle of the academic year the Transfer Certificate and Progress Report (if applicable) will be given ONLY after charging the fees for the complete academic year.
  2. Transfer Certificate will be issued only after the declaration made in writing by the parents. In absence of parents a guardian can approach by showing the letter of declaration or permission from parents.
  3. Disrespect & Disobedience to teachers and staff members, fighting & hurting others, stealing, lying, confidential relation with opposite sex are sufficient reasons either for class suspension or issue of Transfer Certificate without notice.
  4. Parents are requested to apply for transfer certificate before starting of final examination (TC-01) otherwise transfer certificate will be issued only after the payment of full academic session fee of promoted class.
  5. Any student failing two years in succession in the same class or failing twice in three consecutive years, will be struck off the rolls and a T.C. will be issued. Also, rule 09 & 23 applicable.

Assessment and Promotion Rules

  1. Promotion at the end of the year will be based on attendance, unit test, the two terminal assessments and the work done during the year and the overall conduct record.
  2. The result of the Final Assessment is final and cannot be changed.
  3. In matters of promotion or detention or issuance of Transfer Certificate at the end of academic year, the Principal's decision is final.

School Library Rules

  1. Strict silence and order must be observed by all in the library.
  2. All articles, personal belongings and bags must be left outside when entering the library. Only an exercise book and the library book to be returned may be taken into the library.
  3. Books exclusively meant for consultation are not to be taken out of the library. They remain available to all students all the time. Books will be issued only with the permission from librarian.
  4. All magazines, reference books or books used while in the library must be put back in the proper place after reading.
  5. Books lost or badly damage must be replaced by the borrower.
  6. No books shall be retained by the students during the summer, autumn and winter vacations.

School Computer Lab Rules

  1. The computer centre is a place of learning and serious work. For this "Silence" is a very necessary element.
  2. Take nothing into the computer room without prior permission of the teacher.
  3. The computer is a complicated electronic instrument which is learned through instruction and operation. Hence, follow the instruction of your computer teacher carefully.
  4. Do not touch any electrical circuit.
